Expert Carol Smyth of design.Hindover has been confirmed as the fourth panellist for the AECB’s free Sussex West event, “Cold Home – Hot Tips”
The event takes place on
Joining Carol on the panel will be Robin Hillier of Ecological Building Systems, alongside Jo Saady, eco-architect and heritage specialist, and Rob Whitehead, founder of The Net Zero House.
Aimed at householders looking to improve the comfort and energy efficiency of their homes, particularly those working within a limited budget, the event will explore practical and realistic approaches to retrofit. For anyone wondering where to start, the evening will provide straightforward advice on keeping homes warmer, reducing energy bills and making sustainable improvements without unnecessary expense.
While the recent weather might suggest that “Hot House – Cold Tips” would be a more fitting title, the discussion will focus on preparing homes for the long term and improving year-round comfort and performance.
The event will be chaired by Nicki Myers of Evesco and marks the first Sussex West AECB event.
Two short talks.
- Rob Whitehead, Net Zero House, will discuss domestic energy use, EPCs, and how homeowners can approach retrofit projects in a realistic and cost-effective manner.
- I will share my personal experiences of retrofitting and maintaining an older Victorian home, highlighting the challenges and lessons learned along the way.
Followed by a QnA panel session with our expert panellists Carol Smyth and Robin Hillier of Ecological Building Systems who bring their extensive expertise in sustainable design and building performance to the discussion.
