Funky and Innovative

Ecotecture was approached by the client in 2010 due to the practices ecological credentials and design flair.

Building on the desire to create something unique, quirky and individual whilst upgrading the whole house to reduce the environmental impact, Ecotecture set about brightening up this 1970s style house. Sweeping fluid forms mixed with render, glass and timber cladding have allow front and rear of the property to be totally transformed.

Internally the original ground floor has been altered in order to produce the light, bright, open plan spaces the family craved. These internal alterations allowed the new extensions to seamlessly blend into the existing house.

In order to create these fantastically fluid forms, ICF or insulated concrete formwork, has been employed as the main structural component. This system, also seen on the ‘Curly House’ project, allows for interesting design concepts to be built in a cost effective manner, without compromising on thermal performance and airtightness.
