Exceeding the highest Standards

Ecotecture was commissioned to achieve development according to the exacting EcoHomes Standard.

Because the project had already achieved planning permission before our involvement, we had to use our vast knowledge in this area to amend the approved design to comply with the requirements of the EcoHomes assessment.

The revision saw the introduction of higher performance glazing, and a more comprehensive solar shading system. The building fabric also saw a redesign, to enable the introduction of a thin jointed block work system as well as a thicker amount of insulation, all helping to achieve the EcoHomes accreditation.

An air test has already been completed on the property which in which we were aiming to achieve 5m3/m2/h, the building actually achieved a rating of 4m3/m2/h and with minor modifications we will be able to achieve an air permeability figure of around 3m3/m2/h.

In order to obtain the EcoHomes accreditation many different areas were addressed without a major compromise to the aesthetic quality.
